<p>Some think that it is developmental and caused by environmental or social triggers. Most of us will grow out of this once we are a few years old and may not even remember stuttering in our early childhood.</p>
<p>Some will argue that it is &#8220;neurogenic&#8221;, which just means that signalling problems between the brain and the nerves causes this to happen. Speech isn&#8217;t actually formed in a single part of the brain. One part of the speech center in the brain is responsible for verbs, another for nouns and yet another for putting together a complete sentence. Signaling problems can prevent the brain from being able to coordinate properly the different parts of speech.</p>
<p>The best person to diagnose if you have a speech disorder such as stammering is a certified and licensed speech and language pathologist (SLP).
